Within the framework of the SDG-BASED project, a new academic collaboration has been established between Dalarna University and Università degli Studi di Palermo.

Francesco Guarino and the University of Palermo team have welcomed Fartun Ahmed Nuur, a student from Dalarna University enrolled in the one-year Master’s programme in Energy Efficient Built Environment. Fartun is carrying out her thesis work within the SDG-BASED project.

During her stay, she will collaborate with fellow student Roberta Gargani to investigate the potential transformation of an existing urban district in the Mediterranean context. The selected case study is the municipality of Monreale, where the research focuses on pathways towards the development of a Positive Energy District.

This initiative further strengthens the international research collaboration within the SDG-BASED consortium and contributes to advancing sustainable and energy-efficient urban transformation strategies.
